Privacy policy

How Woomatures looks after your information, in plain English.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

In short: we collect what we need to introduce you to people and keep everyone safe. We never sell your information, we don't show adverts on Woomatures, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies. You can download or delete your information at any time.

Who we are

Woomatures (woomatures.com) is run by Woomatures. We are responsible for your information (the "data controller"). Contact us about privacy at support@woomatures.com.

What we collect

  • Account details: your first name, email address and password. Passwords are scrambled (hashed) so nobody, including us, can read them.
  • Your profile: date of birth, gender, who you'd like to meet, the age range and distance you prefer, your town, what you're looking for, interests, answers to profile questions, details such as children, smoking and drinking, and your photos.
  • Verification photo: a private photo of the side of your face, taken when you join. Only our safety team can see it.
  • Approximate location: worked out from your internet connection, or from your device if you choose to share it. We round it to about 1 km and never store your exact position.
  • Your activity: suggestions shown to you, likes and notes, messages, blocks, reports, and when you were last active.
  • Settings: your email and messaging preferences, text size and distance units.
  • Technical information: your IP address and browser type when you sign in, and short-lived security logs. We use these to keep accounts secure and stop abuse.

Sensitive information

Who you'd like to meet can reveal your sexual orientation, and in some countries this is a special category of information. We only use it to suggest matches and decide who sees your profile, and only with your explicit consent, which you give when you set up your profile. You can withdraw it by deleting your account.

We don't use your verification photo for automated face recognition. A member of our safety team looks at it when checking a profile or a report.

How we use your information

  • To run Woomatures: creating your account, showing your profile to suitable members, choosing your daily suggestions, and delivering messages and likes. (We need this to provide the service you've signed up for.)
  • To keep members safe: checking new profiles, showing a safety tip when a message mentions money, gift cards, investments or moving to another app, limiting how many new conversations someone can start, and acting on reports. (This is in our and our members' legitimate interests in a safe service.)
  • To email you: account emails such as confirming your address and resetting your password, and, if you leave them switched on, emails about new messages and likes. You can turn these off in Settings.
  • To meet legal obligations: for example, responding to lawful requests from the police or courts.

Your daily suggestions are chosen automatically, based on age, distance, shared interests and what you're both looking for. Messages are checked automatically for common scam words. These checks never stop a message being delivered or close an account on their own. A person on our safety team always makes those decisions.

Who can see your information

  • Other members can see your profile: first name, age (not your date of birth), town, roughly how far away you are, photos, interests, answers and when you were last active. They never see your email address, date of birth, exact location or verification photo.
  • The person you're talking to sees the messages and likes you send them.
  • Our safety team can see your profile, email address, verification photo, and any messages that were reported or that triggered a safety tip. They can't browse your other conversations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising. We only share it with:

  • Cloudflare, which hosts Woomatures, stores our database and photos, sends our emails, and runs the "are you human?" check on our sign-up and sign-in forms. Cloudflare may only use your information to provide these services to us.
  • The police, courts or regulators, when the law requires it, or when we believe it's needed to protect someone from serious harm.
  • A new owner, if Woomatures is ever sold or merged. They would have to look after your information in the way this policy describes, and we'd tell you first.

Where your information is stored

Cloudflare stores and processes information in data centres around the world, including the United States. Where information leaves the UK or European Economic Area, it's protected by legal safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

  • We keep your account information while your account is open.
  • When you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, photos, verification photo, likes, and the conversations you were part of, straight away.
  • We keep safety reports and notes about rule-breaking after an account is deleted, for as long as they're needed to protect members (for example, to stop a banned scammer from rejoining) and to deal with legal claims.
  • Sign-in sessions end after 30 days. Security logs are deleted automatically after a few days.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can:

  • download a copy of your information at any time from Settings;
  • correct your profile at any time from My profile;
  • delete your account at any time from Settings;
  • turn off message and like emails in Settings.

Depending on where you live (for example, in the UK, the European Union, or US states such as California), you may also have the right to object to how we use your information, ask us to restrict it, withdraw consent, or ask what we hold about you. Email support@woomatures.com and we'll reply within one month. We won't treat you differently for using your rights. As we don't sell or share your information for advertising, there is nothing to opt out of.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are essential to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, so we don't need to ask for cookie consent. Our "are you human?" check, provided by Cloudflare, looks at basic information about your browser to stop automated sign-ups.

Age

Woomatures is only for people aged 40 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger, and nobody under 18 may use it. If we learn that someone is under 40, we close their account.

Keeping your information secure

  • Everything you send to Woomatures is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
  • Photos are kept in private storage and are only shown to signed-in members.
  • We remove hidden location details (EXIF data) from photos before they're saved.
  • Only our safety team can see verification photos and reports.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is important, we'll email you before it takes effect.
